The Ladies Section

Welcome to the Chippenham Golf Club Ladies' Section

Hi, I would like to introduce you to the Ladies’ Section at Chippenham Golf Club. We are a very friendly and welcoming group of around 70 enthusiastic ladies who are keen to encourage all members to join in our various activities, both as fun and at a more competitive level.

We have three teams in the Wiltshire County Ladies’ Scratch League as well as teams in the Wiltshire County Scratch and Handicap Knockout competitions. Chippenham Ladies won the Scratch Knockout in 2021 and got through to the semi-final in 2022. We also won the Handicap Knockout in 2022 and were both runners up and winners of the County Foursomes Knockout in 2022.

Our Ladies’ Day is a Wednesday morning when we do a mixture of fun and qualifying competitions or we just do our own thing within our ‘tee time group’. Some ladies play 9 holes others 18. Whichever we do, we meet up afterwards for coffee/lunch and a chat. Qualifying competitions such as Stablefords, Medals & Cup/Trophy competitions are also held at the weekends.

We hold fun competitions such as an annual Christmas Texas Scramble, Spring & Autumn Bowmakers and Ladies’ Captain’s Day etc. Our annual Away Days, usually with a 1 or 2 night stay, are always great fun, both for the golf and after golf! These are open to players of all handicaps.

We have 18-hole Ladies’ Friendly matches against other clubs, some ‘at home’ and some ‘away’. We have recently started a few 9-hole Friendly matches too. We play Mixed Friendly matches against other clubs, and participate in competitions with the Men, Senior and Junior Sections.

We have a brilliant Professional team who run classes, both in groups or individually, for beginners through to professional level. Their Academy classes for beginners are great for you to get to know other beginners from the start. You can contact them on 01249 652040 Opt 5.

My charity for this year is Dorothy House, a charity providing compassionate care and support for people in our community with a life-limiting illness. If you want to find out more please go to www.dorothyhouse.org.uk

If you are interested in taking up a new sport, returning after a break, changing clubs after a move, or just finding out more about us, then please feel free to contact me at the email address below, or my Vice Captain Jill Tinson at jilly.tinson@gmail.com. We would be pleased to meet you, chat over a coffee or play a few holes.

Cheers Chris
