At Chippenham Golf Club, the Ladies Section are proud of being friendly and welcoming to new members and visitors alike. We recognize that everyone’s needs differ when it comes to playing golf; some enjoy playing in competitions while others prefer social golf; some ladies work and can only play on weekends or evenings; some ladies have been playing for a long time whilst others are beginners (on our Pathway Scheme) who are keen to get their Congu handicaps. The ladies’ committee, chaired by the Ladies Captain, meet every month and work hard to ensure that the Ladies Section runs smoothly and that all the ladies are kept informed about results, upcoming events and changes to rules, etc.
Between March and October, we offer weekday, weekend and nine-hole qualifying competitions, as well as Club Trophies and Knock out Competitions. We also have Foursomes, Greensomes and Fun competitions, where we mix up different handicaps, so that higher and lower handicaps play together.
For our competitive golfers, we have 3 teams in the County Scratch League, and teams entered in the County Scratch, Handicap Knockout Competitions and County Foursomes Knockout Competitions. For those ladies who enjoy more relaxed competitions, we have a busy Ladies Friendly fixtures diary, playing 12 Greensomes matches during the season.
The Ladies ‘roll up’ every Wednesday morning between 9.30 to 10.15 am during the winter. These mornings are a good opportunity for newer members to play and perhaps improve their game. From October to March we run a Fun Winter Team Competition and a Foursomes Knockout. It is always good to have a coffee/lunch after playing and have a chance to chat! If the weather is bad we just meet for coffee and a longer chat!
We are fortunate to have access to a well-stocked Pro Shop, a new covered driving range and excellent tuition provided by PGA Professionals Nick Horrocks, Louis Boston and Matt Law.
During this year we have a number of social events for the ladies, including the Annual Dinner, two ‘Mind for Golf’ talks with Linda Scrace, and in April we are going on a two-night golfing break to Bryn Meadows in Caerphilly.
If you are interested in joining or just coming to play our course, please don’t hesitate to contact me or my Vice-Captain, Chris Davis (email@example.com), ph. 01225 810019) We would be delighted to meet you.

Junior Captain’s Welcome
Hello everyone - My name is Dan Grice and I’m the Chippenham Golf Club Junior Captain for 2018. Let me tell you a little about the Chippenham G. C. junior section, we have a mixture of abilities consisting of new players and members who regularly take part in competitive golf e.g. club competitions, county competitions and team matches.
On Saturday’s and additional days during summer months, we hold roll up sessions in our covered driving range, or use the other practice facilities available. The roll ups are conducted by our PGA qualified professionals. Anyone under 18 is welcome to join in at the cost of just £4 per session. The different groups are: Under 11's and for ages 11 to 18. These take place at 1:30pm to 2:30pm for the under 11's and from 2:45 to 3:45 for ages 11 to 18.
The Junior section is starting to get a little stronger, with the number of junior and cadets increasing, there’s a broad mix of abilities, and our prime objective (after they pure enjoyment) is to bring cadets through to the junior ranks and obtain their handicap.
Our Junior Organiser, Colin Rossiter works alongside other volunteers to ensure the smooth and safe running of the section.
Throughout the year we hold qualifying competitions, which include medals, Stableford, and other competitions where perpetual club trophies can be won. Any Junior (under the age of 18 on the 1st Jan) can play in these competitions as long as they have a handicap. We also have some competitions with other sections of the club, such as the Ladies and Seniors.
Each year we enter into one of the Wiltshire leagues where we will play other teams both at home and away. Our league matches are 3 v 3 player singles matches. There’s also a knockout within Wiltshire junior golf which we enter every year, plus a national knockout competition, RBL poppy appeal knockout, which in 2016 we to last 8, and 2017 the last 16, out of the 164 teams who entered.
Last year was a very relatively successful year for us as we won our Wiltshire Ridgeway Junior League, and were runners up in the County Junior Team Shield. Brad Rossiter and Dan Woodley, represented Wiltshire at County level, and I was part of the Wiltshire U18/U16 Performance Squad.
