At Chippenham Golf Club, the Ladies Section are proud of being friendly and welcoming to new members and visitors alike. We recognize that everyone’s needs differ when it comes to playing golf; some enjoy playing in competitions while others prefer social golf; some ladies work and can only play on weekends or evenings; some ladies have been playing for a long time whilst others are beginners (on our Pathway Scheme) who are keen to get their Congu handicaps. The ladies’ committee, chaired by the Ladies Captain, meet every month and work hard to ensure that the Ladies Section runs smoothly and that all the ladies are kept informed about results, upcoming events and changes to rules, etc.

Between March and October, we offer weekday, weekend and nine-hole qualifying competitions, as well as Club Trophies and Knock out Competitions. We also have Foursomes, Greensomes and Fun competitions, where we mix up different handicaps, so that higher and lower handicaps play together.

For our competitive golfers, we have 3 teams in the County Scratch League, and teams entered in the County Scratch, Handicap Knockout Competitions and County Foursomes Knockout Competitions. For those ladies who enjoy more relaxed competitions, we have a busy Ladies Friendly fixtures diary, playing 12 Greensomes matches during the season.

The Ladies ‘roll up’ every Wednesday morning between 9.30 to 10.15 am during the winter. These mornings are a good opportunity for newer members to play and perhaps improve their game. From October to March we run a Fun Winter Team Competition and a Foursomes Knockout. It is always good to have a coffee/lunch after playing and have a chance to chat! If the weather is bad we just meet for coffee and a longer chat!

We are fortunate to have access to a well-stocked Pro Shop, a covered driving range and excellent tuition with PGA Professionals Nick Horrocks and Claire Burrows.

During this year we have a number of social events for the ladies, including the Annual Dinner, two ‘Mind for Golf’ talks with Linda Scrace, and in April we are going on a two-night golfing break to Bryn Meadows in Caerphilly.

If you are interested in joining or just coming to play our course, please don’t hesitate to contact me or my Vice-Captain, Chris Davis (christine.davis21@btinternet.com), ph. 01225 810019) We would be delighted to meet you.

Welcome to the Seniors Section page on our website. Firstly, If you are a new member we will be happy to take you out to try the course and introduce you to other members. There is a list of Committee members on the Gents changing room notice board and we are all here to help make Chippenham Golf Club a great place to play. All through the year there are plenty of opportunities for ‘competitive’ golf, playing in the various trophy competitions and friendly matches against other Clubs. Each year we play over 30 Senior friendlies (both home and away) and encourage all section members to join in irrespective of handicap – our philosophy is fun and inclusive, last year well over 50 members contributed to the teams. We also run a number of winter competitions to keep the cobwebs firmly at bay. The list of competitions and opportunities for play is too long to list here; keep an eye on the boards in the changing rooms and the club diary. We have three away days each year to add to the chance of playing new and old favourite courses within easy travelling distance. One event I would particularly ask you to support whether by playing, spotting or raising funds for the Charity is the Chippenham Seniors Open – the biggest event in our calendar. This year my chosen charity is Prostate Cancer UK – any support you can offer will be gratefully received. Dave Thomas 2017 Seniors Section Captain
