The Ladies Section at Chippenham is a very vibrant and social group of ladies. The membership is 62 with about 50 ladies who play golf regularly. In addition we have 6 girls, 2 of whom have played for the County junior team and 2 of our ladies play for the County.

We start the season off in March with a 14 hole Bring and Win quickly followed by our first medal. Medals take place on a Wednesday and Saturday each month. In addition we play for several cups and have both 18 and 9 hole stablefords.

Our most prestigious cup is the Premier Cup which is a 36 hole stroke play competition off scratch which is played alongside the Tregarthan Trophy which is handicapped. Both these Cups are played with the men’s 36 hole Cups on a Championship Day.

We run two league teams and enter both the County Scratch and Handicap knock outs. Our ‘A’ team have been runners up in the 1st division for the last 2 years and the ‘B’ team in their 1st year was promoted to Division 4. There is great competition for both teams with several members vying for a place.

To keep our ‘swings’ going during the winter months we have a roll up at 9.15 for 9.30am on Wednesdays and at 10.15 for 10.30 am on Saturdays. During December we have a 9 hole Texas Scramble followed by a Christmas lunch which is thoroughly enjoyed by all.

In April we usually have 3 days away as a group, with about 30 ladies going. This year we are going to Botley Park near Southampton. It’s become a bit of a tradition to undertake some kind of entertainment on these occasions and is great fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all

Flag competition, the distance you can get around the course with your stroke allowance (par + handicap). Played with a nominated medal.

Mary Phillips Cup
Best net score returned by a lady in a qualifying strokeplay competition at Chippenham Golf Club.

Millennium Cup
For the lady returning the best 6 aggregate nett scores in medals.

Most Improved Player Trophy
Awarded to the lady who has reduced her exact handicap the most between the start and end of the current playing season. Open to all Adult/Full members of the Ladies Section.
